Retromobil Club Romania presents traveling exhibition 'Scandinavian Classic Cars on the Brancoveanu Road'
Over 20 historic Scandinavian vehicles - including Volvo and Saab models - will line up on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. at the Brancoveanu Mogosoaia Palace for the start of a free-entry traveling exhibition, which will be displayed at three historically significant locations: Mogosoaia Palace, Potlogi Palace, and the Chindia Tower.
''Scandinavian Classic Cars on the Brancoveanu Road' will follow a route that is not just a caravan of historic vehicles but also a bridge between voivodal heritage, the technical pioneering of the Bibescu family, and contemporary passion for preserving movable heritage. The itinerary includes the Mogosoaia Palace (09:00-11:30), founded by ruler Constantin Brancoveanu and later restored by George Valentin Bibescu, Potlogi Palace (12:30-14:30), a gem of Brancoveanu architecture, Chindia Tower in Targoviste (16:30-18:30), a symbol of voivodal power,' shows Retromobil Club Romania in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday.
Representatives from the Swedish Embassy in Bucharest, a cultural partner of the Scandinavian Vehicles Section of Retromobil Club Romania, will attend the opening ceremony.
AGERPRES National News Agency is also a partner of the event.
The traveling exhibition 'Scandinavian Classic Cars on the Brancoveanu Road' was inspired by George Valentin Bibescu, a pioneer of Romanian automobilism and aviation, who organized the first car races in Romania. Bibescu owned one of the first cars brought to Bucharest and founded the Royal Romanian Automobile Club (1904) and the National Aerian League (1912). In 1901, he participated in the famous Geneva-Bucharest race, considered at the time a world record, covering the route at an average speed of 25 km/h - a remarkable achievement in the early days of European automobilism.
Founded in 1998 by 21 enthusiasts, Retromobil Club România has certified over 11,000 historic vehicles and built a community of 5,000 members across 41 county branches, organizing over 180 events annually. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Popescu; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
