President Nicusor Dan said on Friday, in a social media message, that it is Romania's responsibility to increase its defence spending given increasing security risks. He added that 'only by ensuring peace can our societies remain free and prosper in the future.'

Dan participated in the Black Sea Defence, Aerospace and Security - BSDA trade show of defence hardware and said that defence investments have become a priority in the current global context with multiple military conflicts.

In his message, the President said that the event organised in Bucharest represents 'an important event, which puts our defence industry in contact with potential investors, creating a series of opportunities for Romania.'

BSDA is the largest international trade show in Eastern Europe of the defence and aeronautical industries, national security, private security and cybersecurity, which takes place every two years in Bucharest. BSDA actively and directly contributes to the promotion of the Romanian defence industry.

This year's edition is the largest so far, totalling a turnover of about one trillion U.S. dollars.

Dan was accompanied at BSDA by his son Antim. AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Corneliu-Aurelian Colceriu)
