The interim Minister of Investments and European Projects, Dragos Pislaru, said on Saturday that he does not believe in the option of a technocrat leading the Government, because such a figure would rely on 'volatile political support'.

Pislaru was asked in an interview with Digi24 private television broadcaster whether he was the technocrat who could become the next prime minister.

'No. I have stated my position very clearly: that the best choice would be Ilie Bolojan. I do not believe in the option of a technocrat leading the Government simply because, at this moment, what is needed is a political agreement. And if you were to appoint a technocrat who depends on unstable political support, it becomes exactly that issue of a ‘puppet prime minister' which, of course, is an important objective for the party responsible for this whole charade involving the no-confidence motion,' Pislaru replied.

He recalled that he had previously served as Minister of Labour in the technocratic government led by Dacian Ciolos.

'So, in practice, you begin with the idea that you have to carry out certain reforms, and along the way the parties change their minds and suddenly dismantle everything,' the interim Minister of Investments and European Projects pointed out.

Dragos Pislaru also stated that the solution to the political crisis Romania is currently facing should be assumed by those who triggered the crisis.

'This has been said repeatedly, and I will say it as well: I believe the PSD (Social Democratic Party) must come forward with options. I understand they have already announced that they are working on the idea of forming a majority and putting forward a proposal that respects what the President of the country requested. He said he does not wish to conduct experiments and that, when he appoints someone or someone is proposed to him, that person should have a majority.
