Romanian satellite CORVUS designed to detect, localize radio interference sources on national territory, presented on Friday
Romanian satellite CORVUS designed to detect and localize radio interference sources on Romanian territory, as well as the ground infrastructure, was presented on Friday, along with the main results obtained from the research carried out.
'The event took place in the presence of Mr. Tudor Prisecaru, vice-president of the National Authority for Research - ANC, who highlighted the importance of this project for the technological and scientific progress of Romania. Both the physical model of the CORVUS satellite and the ground infrastructure were presented, both being developed for the Communication and Information Technology Command (CCI), the project being financed by the Armament General Directorate (DPA) through the Sectoral Plan for Research and Development,' informs the National Authority for Research.
According to the cited source, CORVUS project marks a significant milestone in the Romanian space industry, by developing a Satellite Demonstrator for monitoring ground RF emissions, capable of detecting and localizing radio interference sources on Romanian territory . Both the space segment and the command and control station were designed, realized and tested entirely in Romania, thanks to the efforts of a consortium led by RISE - Romanian InSpace Engineering.
The partners involved include prestigious institutes under the coordination of ANC, such as the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics - INFLPR and the National Institute for Aerospace Research 'Elie Carafoli' - INCAS, as well as the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA), Rartel SA and the Special Telecommunications Service.
'The contribution of Romanian researchers from the national R&D institutes coordinated by ANC has been essential for the success of this project, demonstrating Romania's ability to develop advanced technologies at international standards. This moment underlines the excellence of Romanian research and its role in strengthening security and technological innovation,' the same source said.
