Rogobete on World Stroke Day: 50 healthcare facilities provide intravenous fibrinolysis under national programme

Imagine din galeria Agerpres

Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete, said on Thursday, October 29, World Stroke Day, that Romania's national programme of priority actions for the interventional treatment of patients with acute stroke (AP-Stroke) has been developed in recent years, with the network including healthcare units that provide several types of specialised interventions.

According to the minister, the programme currently provides intravenous fibrinolysis in 50 healthcare facilities, intraarterial fibrinolysis in 13 facilites, thrombectomy/thromboplasty in 14 facilities, percutaneous angioplasty with a stent in 14 facilities and embolization of ruptured aneurysms in 11 healthcare facilities.

Rogobete added that the rapid recognition of symptoms and timely medical intervention are essential for increasing the chances of survival and the recovery of patients and reducing the risk of disability.

'There are moments when time takes on another value, when every second can mean a chance at life, and the hope of a family is linked to the tireless effort of doctors. Stroke shows us, perhaps more than anything, how precious life is and how important it is to try to protect it. Timely recognition of symptoms and rapid medical intervention can make a difference, giving patients the chance for treatment, recovery and return to their loved ones. Today, on World Stroke Day, my thoughts go out to every patient who has gone through this ordeal, to the families who have lived the fear of losing a loved one and to the doctors and medical teams who fight, every day, for every chance at life,' Rogobete wrote in a social media post.

He thanked doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals for their efforts in treating stroke patients.

'I know that behind every intervention there is not only competence and technology, but also a huge responsibility towards people. I am sending encouragement, strength and confidence to all those recovering from a stroke, with the hope that each step forward brings them closer to a better life, as well as my full appreciation to the families who, through their love, patience and unconditional support, give them the strength to move forward every day.'
