Dracula Fantasy Con brings gaming, cosplay and Japanese culture to Brasov

Image

Dracula Fantasy Con, organised as part of the Dracula Film Festival, returns to Brasov from Friday to Sunday with events dedicated to fantasy and science fiction, pop culture and creative communities.

The event, bringing together graphic artists and enthusiasts of video games, board games, Japanese culture, comics and fantasy literature, will take place at Coresi Shopping Resort, in the area known as Piata cu Copaci (Tree Square). The official opening is scheduled for Friday at 17:00.

Dracula Fantasy Con will feature gaming competitions, board games, Japanese culture workshops, artistic demonstrations, a cosplay parade and meetings with illustrators and comic book creators.

Inspired by major international conventions such as Worldcon and San Diego Comic-Con, Dracula Fantasy Con brings together various forms of artistic expression and entertainment, ranging from illustration and manga to gaming and collectibles.

One of the event's attractions is the Gaming by ROG area, organised in partnership with ASUS Romania.

Republic of Gamers (ROG) will showcase gaming laptops during League of Legends (1v1) and Mortal Kombat competitions, as well as free-to-play sessions allowing visitors to try out the equipment and play games. Prizes will be awarded during the competitions.

In partnership with Tricksters Club, Dracula Fantasy Con will also offer a dedicated board games area, open both to enthusiasts and to those wishing to discover this form of entertainment.

Visitors will be able to try games such as Dixit, Ticket to Ride Europe and numerous other titles alongside members of the board gaming community.

Scrabble, Azul, Toy Battle and Catan: Cities & Knights tournaments are also planned, with prizes for the top three finishers and other surprises.

Participation is not restricted to experienced players. Those wishing to learn a new game or spend time at the board gaming tables will find activities suited to all levels of experience.

Another major section of the convention is Artists' Alley, where visitors will be able to discover the work of six graphic artists with different styles and backgrounds, as well as meet the creators in person.

The Kumagumi Brasov community has prepared a programme of workshops and demonstrations inspired by Japanese traditions and culture.

Participants will be able to explore Shodo, the art of Japanese calligraphy, and Sumi-e, the traditional technique of ink-and-brush painting. Manga drawing workshops will focus on creating characters and the distinctive facial expressions found in Japanese comics.

The programme also includes origami, Japanese mask-painting workshops and Hanafuda sessions, featuring the traditional Japanese card game illustrated with floral motifs.

On Saturday and Sunday, visitors will be able to watch live Sumi-e painting demonstrations, while a Hanafuda tournament is scheduled for Sunday. Registration will take place directly at the stand, and beginners are also welcome to compete.

One of the weekend's main highlights will be the Cosplay Parade, scheduled for Saturday at 16:00.

Participants will take to the stage to present their favourite characters from anime, manga, video games or films. Each will have a maximum of 30 seconds for a short performance, a character pose or another creative presentation.

Registration remains open until the day of the event and can also be completed on site. The registration form is available at:

Hobby Custom will also take part in Dracula Fantasy Con, displaying 3D-printed figurines and objects inspired by anime, manga, Dungeons & Dragons, comics and gaming. Visitors will also be able to explore options for creating customised items. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Petronius Craiu; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
