Steps for building new burn centre in Bucharest could start next year (minister)
Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete has said that steps for the construction of a new centre for patients with severe burns in Bucharest could start next year, inisting on the need to develop medical infrastructure to treat patients with severe burns.
'Mr Prime Minister, I want to thank you for your trust and I believe that together we can not only inaugurate hospitals, because there are a few more, but I think that together we can even start the construction of new hospitals in Romania, and Bucharest has a backlog of soul. A backlog for the dignity of the people who 11 years ago went through a great tragedy. In Romania there are three burn centres: one in Timisoara, one in Targu Mures, which are completed. The one in Bucharest for children, but in Romania there is still a need for a centre for severe burns in Bucharest and I hope that next year we will be able to start the steps for this great project that obviously the minister of finance knows very well,' said the minister at the handover ceremony of the new Centre for Diagnosis, Treatment and Research of Tuberculosis to the Marius Nasta National Institute of Pneumophthysiology.
The minister thanked the government officials who supported the investments in health, mentioning Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare for prioritising the payments and budgets for the healthcare sector, as well as the former interim Minister of Health, Cseke Attila, for unblocking the hospital's situation through normative acts.
Rogobete added that the implementation of medical infrastructure projects requires teamwork and trust between the institutions involved, voicing hope that the authorities will be able to continue the inauguration of hospitals and will be able to start the construction of new healthcare facilities.
