Traffic in Isaccea border crossing point reduced by half on Monday compared to the same period of 2023
The number of people who went through the Isaccea Romanian-Ukrainian customs on Monday, January 8, decreased by at least 50% compared to the number of people and cars officially registered on the same day last year, the spokesman for the Coast Guard, Andrei Ene, told AGERPRES on Tuesday.
Thus, the border authority informs that there were almost 400 people with 150 means of transport who entered Romania through the border crossing point at Isaccea on Monday, January 8, 2024, compared to 900 people with 250 means of transport on the same day last year.
Also, if on Monday, January 8, 2024, the customs offices at Isaccea recorded 430 people on their way out of the country with 95 means of transport, there were 1,000 people recorded with 250 means of transport on the same day last year.
According to the Coast Guard, from the beginning of the war in Ukraine until Tuesday, almost 152,000 means of transport and about 630,000 people entered Romania through the border crossing point in the city of Isaccea, and almost 157,000 means of transport and about 620 people left from Romania.
Moreover, for almost three months, nuclear radiation detectors and radioactive materials donated to the Border Police by the Government of the United States of America have been put into use in Isaccea customs.
