Prince Radu, on visit to Egypt, at opening of AGERPRES exhibition dedicated to Royal House founding 160th anniversary
Prince Radu is paying a public visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, during which His Royal Highness attended on Sunday the opening of the AGERPRES exhibition marking the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Royal House, at the British University in Egypt.
According to the website www.romaniaregala.ro, on Sunday Prince Radu was a guest of the British University in Egypt, together with Romania's Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt Olivia Toderean, President of the National Council of Rectors, Professor Sorin Cimpeanu, and AGERPRES Director General Claudia Nicolae.
The opening of the AGERPRES exhibition dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Romanian Royal House took place at the Faculty of Architecture and Design.
The exhibition was presented by AGERPRES Director General Claudia Nicolae and was open to students and university staff for one week. Speeches were delivered by Farida Mohamed Farid Khamis, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the British University, and Prince Radu.
At the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Media, Prince Radu delivered a lecture titled ‘Romania as a bridge between the European Union and the Mediterranean,' in the presence of the President of the British University, Professor Mohamed Loutfi, Farida Khamis and members of the university's academic staff. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session.
In the afternoon, in Egypt's New Administrative Capital, Prince Radu had a meeting with Professor Abdel Aziz Qonsoah, Minister of Higher Education, together with President of the National Council of Rectors and Rector of the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest Sorin Cimpeanu, also in the presence of Romania's ambassador.
The Egyptian delegation to the meeting included members of the ministry's leadership, particularly representing technological higher education and the International Cooperation department.
An annual cooperation project was discussed, to be held alternately in Bucharest and Cairo, between nearly 150 Egyptian public and private universities and more than 100 Romanian universities, with the first annual bilateral meeting scheduled for October 2026 in the Romanian capital.
Egypt is particularly interested in the areas of medicine and technical specialisations, agronomy included.
The day ended with His Royal Highness attending an official farewell reception hosted by the President of the British University, in the presence of prominent figures from the political, diplomatic and economic spheres.
Those present included Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Dr Hani Sewilam, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Abdel Aziz Qonsoah, the ambassadors of the United Kingdom, Denmark and Jordan, former Egyptian foreign ministers, Grand Egyptian Museum CEO, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, as well as Romanian figures attending Prince Radu's visit.
