National Day/President Nicusor Dan spends nearly two hours among crowd, speaking with Romanians
President Nicusor Dan spoke with and took selfies alongside dozens of people on Monday, after attending the National Day military parade.
After the official ceremony at the Arch of Triumph, the head of state approached the spectators who had watched the traditional parade. One by one, he began taking photos with adults, children and curious foreign visitors. For almost two hours, surrounded by the crowd, he welcomed everyone who wanted a photo with their mobile phone.
The children were particularly curious and enthusiastic. One of them exclaimed in English after taking a photo with the head of state: 'Mission accomplished!'
A woman, a foreign citizen, told him in English that she was very happy to meet him. 'I watch you online, I see you in videos, on TikTok,' she said.
At one point, two Ambulance Service employees also came over to take a photo with the president.
'It is a day of celebration today. Happy National Day to all Romanians! I invite everyone to continue believing in this country, because it has great potential. Those here at home and those in the diaspora. And I was impressed, as I was in previous years, by how many people came. It shows that people care about this country,' Nicusor Dan said after the nearly two-hour interaction.
He added that many of those he met wished him 'Happy National Day!'. 'Some told me to take care of this country, and especially of the children - that is important,' the president said. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Simona Iacob)
