#NadiaYear Simona Halep: Nadia means perfection, she was with me even in the hardest moments
Former tennis player Simona Halep participated on Friday evening, at the Palace of Parliament, at the gala dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the first 10 mark in the history of gymnastics, won by Nadia Comaneci, where she stated that the former great champion was always by her side in the important moments of her career.
'Nadia has always supported me in important matches and I thank her for that. When a great sportswoman, a legend of world sports, of world gymnastics, not only in our country, comes alongside you, she gives you a lot of confidence, she gives you a lot of enthusiasm that you can and that it is possible. I really liked her from the first moment and I am very happy that I can be present tonight. It is an honor because Nadia means perfection. She has been with me in the hardest moments and in the beautiful moments. A high-quality sportswoman, like Nadia, knows how to tell you the right things at the right time', said Halep.
The former world leader specified that in her career, perfection even meant the first position in the world rankings.
'It is a pleasure and a joy for us to be able to transmit positive things to children. It is also a responsibility for us, because we are somehow a role model for the little ones. The important thing is that they get into sports, no matter what sport, and want to believe that anything is possible. For me, perfection meant being world number 1 and, of course, the Grand Slams. The fact that I managed to achieve the highest performance in world tennis fulfilled me as a person, but also as an athlete. I always thought that perfection did not exist, but sometimes, in some moments, it really does exist and somehow we can perceive that it does exist,' Halep added.
The central event of the 'Nadia Year 2026', the 'Nadia Comaneci - 50 years since the first 10.00' Gala, at the Palace of Parliament, is organized under the auspices of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) and marks the beginning of the festivities dedicated to the half-century anniversary of the historic 'perfect 10' won at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
The event is attended by legends of Romanian and international sports, officials and personalities from various fields.
