Lasconi urges Nicusor Dan to acknowledge poor decisions, or risk becoming Romania's first dismissed president

Image

Former USR leader Elena Lasconi urged President Nicu?or Dan on Saturday to take responsibility for his decisions and acknowledge before Romanians that he has made mistakes.

'I have watched in silence, but sometimes silence cries out and causes pain. How hard is it to take responsibility for your own decisions? How hard is it to stand before the people and say: 'I was stupid, I was wrong'? Mr. President, Romanians are forgiving people. What really matters is to be honest, credible, human. I know you lack these qualities, but you are the 'head of the country', with an entire apparatus at your disposal. You can use it to fix mistakes. I know you, unfortunately. If you do not come out now, at the eleventh hour, before Romanians and take responsibility for your decisions, I believe you will become the first dismissed president in Romania's history. Cowardice won't work anymore. You cannot keep pointing fingers elsewhere, you cannot blame others forever. The decisions are yours. Be responsible!,' Lasconi wrote on Facebook.

She went on to say that 'at Cotroceni you don't need trigonometry. You need dignity, empathy, diplomacy and the honesty you claim. The honour of working for the people's well-being does not mean traveling from one country to another with the protection detail behind you and disconnecting from the people. Honour is born only from integrity. You cannot fight for something you do not love. You cannot fight for Romania if it does not run through your veins.'

'At least take some acting lessons so you can finish this term without plunging us into permanent crises. Otherwise, God bless you, because trouble is pouring in! I thought of ending with a wish from Ion Creanga's stories because, Mr. President, you are on the verge of becoming a story character. It's up to you whether you want to be the good, or the bad one,' Lasconi concluded. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Irina Poenaru; EN - writing by: Simona Klodnischi)
