Vintage trams will parade on Sunday along historic route of first electric line in Bucharest
The Bucharest Transport Company (STB) is organizing, on May 31 and June 1, a series of events dedicated to Children's Day, which will begin with the Tram Parade organized at the Victoria Depot.
'Dear children, on Sunday, May 31, take your parents and grandparents by the hand and come celebrate Children's Day together! We know very well that you are always there and the most ardent fans of our events, so, in the middle of the holiday weekend, STB is preparing a gift for you: a festive parade with old and new trams, to the tunes of the Representative Military Music of the Romanian Gendarmerie. UNATC students will give life to cheerful characters, ready to bring smiles and good cheer,' STB announced on Friday, in a post on Facebook.
Some of the most famous wagons in the history of Bucharest transport will parade on the rails, including the Simmering Wagon, V56 with trailer, the Tatra T4R and EP V3A 6001 wagons, the Rathgeber 3.16 - known as the 'Confectionery wagon', as well as the Bucur LF 417 Wagon, recently modernized at the URAC factories, and the Imperio 100 Wagon.
The trams will depart from the Victoria Depot at 12:00, and will follow the historical route of the first electric line in Bucharest: Stefan cel Mare Road - Bucur Obor - Calea Moslor - Sfântul Gheorghe Square and return.
The atmosphere will be enlivened by the Representative Military Band of the Romanian Gendarmerie, which will play live from a moving convertible tram. At the depot, children will receive sweets, water and colorful travel tickets.
The event is organized with the support of the Romanian Gendarmerie, UNATC 'I. L. Caragiale' and the Ambasadorii Musical Theater.
