The approximately 500 guests of the official Gala 'Nadia Comaneci - 50 years since the first 10.00 mark' have the opportunity to make an exciting visual incursion into the career of the greatest gymnast of all time, with the National News Agency AGERPRES participating in the event with an exceptional photographic exhibition in the foyer of the hall at the Palace of Parliament.

The exhibition brings together unique archive images and memorable snapshots captured by the agency's photojournalists over the decades, offering the public and Nadia Comaneci the chance to relive the exciting moments from the great gymnast's sporting and personal journey.

The grand champion visited the exhibition just before the gala began, looking closely at the archival images alongside her husband, Bart Conner, and her mother, Stefania Alexandrina Comaneci.

'I am very excited to see almost my entire life in images and to enter this majestic hall where all my colleagues and all the generations after me are, and the little girls who will surely perform tonight. I am happy that gymnastics still has a wave of desire to do something amazing. The Palace of Parliament is a location of Romania and to have this gala here tonight is an honor for me too and I am happy that I am sitting very close and that I see this house of the people every time. I thank the Romanians from the bottom of my heart. I cannot believe that this 50th anniversary celebration is taking place here in Romania. I am extremely happy, because my roots are here and I cannot imagine a more beautiful place where I can celebrate this anniversary', declared Nadia Comaneci before the start of the gala.

The images displayed in the foyer of the events hall at the Palace of Parliament cover essential moments in the champion's life.

'Nadia is a phenomenon, a symbol of Romania. And AGERPRES has always paid tribute, respected and brought to the attention of the Romanian public what she held most precious. Thus, we decided to organize an exceptional photography exhibition, with the most representative 25 snapshots captured by our photojournalists in this half century', declared the General Director of the National News Agency AGERPRES, Claudia Nicolae.

Among these are snapshots captured by AGERPRES photographers in the competitions that defined world gymnastics, from the 1981 Bucharest Universiade, her return from the Montreal Olympics with 3 gold medals, her grand retirement gala in 1984.

Also captured are moments of collection from her personal life, such as her wedding to Bart Conner, little Nadia at school, with her mother and brother, or her meeting with great personalities of world sports.

Each photo tells the story of the work, discipline and genius that transformed Nadia into a symbol of sporting perfection.

The central event of the 'Year of Nadia 2026', the Gala at the Palace of Parliament, is organized under the aegis of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee (COSR) and marks the beginning of the festivities dedicated to the half-century anniversary of the historic 'perfect 10' obtained at the Montreal Olympic Games in 1976.

The event is attended by legends of Romanian and international sports, officials and personalities from various fields.
