Oradea State Philharmonic to perform concert dedicated to All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day
The Oradea State Philharmonic will perform a vocal-symphonic concert on Thursday dedicated to All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, observed by the Catholic community at the beginning of November, an event that invite audiences to reflect through music on life, death, spirituality and the memory of those who have passed away, the cultural institution announced on Tuesday.
The concert, called 'The Bells,' will take place on 29 October at 19:00 in the Enescu-Bartak Hall and will be performed by the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, conducted by Vladimir Lungu.
'The beginning of November has profound significance in the Catholic world, with All Saints' Day observed on the first day of the month and All Souls' Day on the second. The Oradea State Philharmonic is therefore joining the Catholic community with the concert entitled ‘The Bells,' which anticipates these two days of great significance in the Christian calendar,' the institution said in a press release.
According to the same source, the concert programme has been built around themes including faith, the journey through the different stages of human life, from birth to death, the memory of those who have passed away, light and salvation.
Audiences will be able to hear Arvo Part's 'Silouan's Song' and Sergei Rachmaninoff's 'The Isle of the Dead,' as well as the same composer's choral symphony 'The Bells,' a work inspired by the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe which symbolically evokes the stages of human existence.
The Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir will be joined by soprano Tatiana Lisnic, tenor Cristian Mogosan and baritone Florin Estefan.
The Oradea State Philharmonic is a cultural institution under the authority of the Bihor County Council. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Eugenia Pasca; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
