Romania to select its Eurovision 2026 representative on Wednesday on TVR
Romania's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be chosen on Wednesday evening from among 12 finalists. The National Selection final will be broadcast live on Wednesday, starting at 8:00 p.m., on TVR 1, TVR Moldova, TVR International, tvrplus.ro, and the TVR+ mobile app.
For the first time ever, the online broadcast of the National Selection final will also include interpretation in Romanian Sign Language (RSL). The interpreting team consists of Marieta Negru and Andreea Darie, two hearing-impaired interpreters with experience in musical interpretation, together with Lena Dermengiu, a Romanian Television journalist and certified RSL interpreter with extensive experience in the field.
Romania will compete in the second semi-final of Eurovision 2026, scheduled for May 14.
The country's best results in the contest so far are two third-place finishes (Luminita Anghel & Sistem - Kyiv 2005; Paula Seling & Ovi - Oslo 2010), and one fourth-place finish (Mihai Traistariu - Athens 2006). AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Petronius Craiu; EN - writing by: Simona Klodnischi)
