Bucharest, May 21 /Agerpres/ - The BMW iX3 model was named Romania's best electric car of 2026, while the popularity award went to the Renault 4 E-Tech, during the 'Best Electric Car in Romania 2026' awards event organised on Thursday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Forests (MMAP).
The competition was divided into eight distinct categories covering segments such as technology, consumption, design and range, as well as awards dedicated to the premium segment and the public popularity vote.
Thus, the BestElectric Consumption category, for the lowest consumption, was won by the MG4 EV Urban model, while the BestElectric Design award for best design went to the Renault 4 E-Tech Electric.
At the same time, the Volvo ES90 was named BestElectric Premium for best premium model, while the Mercedes-Benz CLA won the BestElectric Range category for best driving range.

'Today is about performance. Today is about increasingly better conditions for Romanians who want to make this transition from combustion-engine cars to electric vehicles, but it is also about real competition, about a market that is developing. Together with you, our private-sector partners, we in the public sector have a duty, on the one hand, to create infrastructure and, on the other, to design national programmes that can help the sector. Even today, within the next few hours, the AFM budget is due to be approved by the Government. I am pleased that we can also share this good news. This year it will amount to 300 million lei. But beyond any discussion about budgets or this competition, it is very clear that you put a great deal of passion into this business,' interim Minister of Environment, Water and Forests Diana Buzoianu said within the awards event.

The Ministry of Environment on Thursday organised the 'Best Electric Car in Romania 2026' event, dedicated to promoting electric mobility and sustainable technologies in the automotive industry.
The competition is initiated by AutoExpert Media, in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, and brings together some of the most important electric models launched on the Romanian market. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Daniel Badea; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
