'Unpredictable Flight' - the first Romanian series filmed entirely in vertical format

Image

The first Romanian series filmed entirely in vertical format, 'Unpredictable Flight' ('Zbor Imprevizibil'), starring Anca Dinicu, Denis Hanganu, Cristian Bota, Alina Puscas, Mara Codita and Alfredo Minea, is now available online, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

Designed specifically for viewing on mobile phones, 'Unpredictable Flight' is available on the TikTok channel @zborimprevizibil, where users can watch the first five episodes free of charge, with the remaining episodes available via subscription.

Directed by Cristian Buje and Mihai Bauman, the series unfolds over 32 short episodes and tells a story set 'in the skies', specifically during a commercial return flight.

An intense drama centred on a tense period in the emotional and professional lives of a cabin crew, the series condenses a story of romance, tension, suspense and inspirational moments into episodes lasting between one and three minutes.

Inspired by stories shared by Andreea Penca, a pilot with DAN AIR, and by other pilot friends, Buje and Bauman set out to capture the internal dynamics of a flight crew and the dramatic potential of a commercial flight.

'We wanted to create a simple and universal love story in which almost any woman could recognise herself - in Sandra's dilemmas, her search for answers, and the moments when security and freedom seem to pull in opposite directions. We believed in this project because it is set in an aspirational world - aviation - where many of us would love to open a window and discover the secrets of an otherwise inaccessible universe.

' 'Unpredictable Flight' was born out of our desire, as filmmakers, to bring quality fiction to Romanian social media channels. We know it is a new format, particularly in Romania, but we believe our audience deserves to keep up with international trends and to receive stories produced to the same standard,' said Cristian Buje and Mihai Bauman.

The story begins with Sandra (Anca Dinicu), who wakes up in a hotel room beside David (Denis Hanganu), a man she does not know. She cannot remember how she got there, but she has no time for answers: she must rush to the airport for a flight she has only just been assigned to.

During that single return flight - one on which she was not even scheduled to work as a flight attendant - Sandra's life is turned upside down. Between her reunion with David and conversations with her boyfriend Gabriel (Cristian Bota) and colleagues Laura (Alina Puscas), Ruxi (Mara Codita) and Iulian (Alfredo Minea), every belief she holds about love, loyalty and courage is put to the test.

'Unpredictable Flight' was filmed aboard one of DAN AIR's aircraft. The airline agreed to support the production, although the project was conceived not as advertising but as a credible fictional story about a flight crew observed during a single return journey.
