Four Italian Eurofighters arrive at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base for Enhanced Air Policing missions
Four Italian Air Force Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft landed on Wednesday at the 57th Air Base in Mihail Kogalniceanu, Constanta County, to strengthen the security of Romania's airspace.
According to a statement by the Ministry of National Defence, the detachment of around 180 personnel (pilots and technical staff) and Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft will carry out enhanced Air Policing missions under NATO command together with Romanian Air Force troops over the next two months.
This marks the seventh rotation of the Italian Air Force in Romania, the Ministry noted.
Enhanced Air Policing missions, conducted jointly with NATO partners since 2014, contribute to strengthening reaction and deterrence capabilities and to improving interoperability between the Romanian Air Force and allied forces.
