Attractive Romania plaftorm, available in six languages, 450 new tourist sites included

Image

The digital platform of the national cultural tourism programme Romania Atractiva/Attractive Romania has become available in six languages and has been expanded with 450 new tourist sites along the 12 thematic routes that cross the entire country, according to information provided by the programme's representatives.

'Over a year after the launch of the Attractive Romania programme, the platform, which initially offered menus only in Romanian and English, can now be accessed in four additional languages. Thus, the more than 2,000 multimedia materials, including texts, photographs, videos, audio guides, 3D animations and virtual tours, are now available to more tourists interested in discovering Romania. Another new feature is the addition of 450 extra sites to the platform, in addition to the 275 main sites corresponding to the themes of the 12 routes,' reads a press release from the company implementing the programme.

Over 700 sites now featured on the platform are accessible to both Romanian and foreign tourists, who can find a wide range of information in six languages. The sites are grouped into 12 thematic tourist routes that traverse the country, and the main attractions will also be signposted through dedicated road infrastructure in the first half of 2026.

According to the same source, interested entities, institutions, organisations or legal and natural persons, may now propose the inclusion of additional tourist sites on the Attractive Romania platform by completing an online form available on the website or in the mobile application. The proposed sites must meet the eligibility criteria set out in the form, with compliance verified by a team from the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE). Approved sites will be published on the platform in sections dedicated to additional attractions, as well as in the mobile application.

The platform integrates Google Maps, allowing users to combine the main sites from the 12 thematic routes to create their own personalised itinerary.

Attractive Romania, the first national programme supporting cultural tourism, was launched in May 2024 and will conclude in June 2026.

The programme, worth over 36.35 million lei, forms part of Component 11 - Tourism and Culture, Investment 1 - Promotion of the 12 tourist and cultural routes, Milestone 332 of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). Its main beneficiaries are local authorities, along with Romanian and foreign tourists.

The programme is coordinated by MIPE and implemented in partnership with the professional teams of the consortium selected through the ministry's 2022 tender: Terra Building, a Romanian company specialising in road infrastructure, responsible for the development of the signposting infrastructure, and Eventya, a company specialising in travel app and content marketing development, which created and maintains the platform and manages its marketing and promotional activities.

Attractive Romania includes 12 thematic tourist routes that cross the entire country, featuring 275 main sites to visit, all presented on the dedicated multimedia platform, and which by 2026 will also be marked through specific road infrastructure. The routes are: the Castles Route, the Transylvanian Curias Route, the Kulas (Fortified Houses) Route, the Traditional Romanian Gastronomy Route, the Fortified Churches Route, the Wooden Churches Route, the Monasteries of Moldavia Route, the Saint Ladislaus Route in Romania, the Roman Castra Route, the Fortresses Route, the Cultural Landscape of the Danube Delta Route and the Traditional Village Architecture Route.
