Romania's President Nicusor Dan and Poland's President Karol Nawrocki at Romania's Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Wednesday welcomed the heads of delegations participating in the 11th Summit of the Bucharest 9 (B9) Format, with the participation of the Nordic states, the U.S. and Ukraine.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is travelling to Bucharest together with his wife, Olena Zelenska, will be welcomed at Cotroceni Palace in the second half of the day of Tuesday.

Participants in the Bucharest summit include NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, President of Estonia Alar Karis, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics, President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini, President of Finland Alexander Stubb, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Thomas DiNanno, Sweden's Defence Minister Pal Jonson, Norway's Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, Permanent Secretary of Iceland's Prime Minister's Office Benedikt Arnason, Bulgaria's Permanent Representative to NATO Ambassador Nikolay Milkov and Hungary's Ambassador to Romania Kissne Hlatki Katalin.

According to the Presidential Administration, the meeting is being held under the imperative of increased contribution to transatlantic security, a formula reflecting the collective commitment of allies on the Eastern and Nordic Flanks to contribute even more substantially to transatlantic security.

Romania is hosting the B9 Summit for the fourth time, following the inaugural edition in 2015, the hybrid-format edition in 2021 and the 2022 edition, thereby consolidating its status as a central actor in the security architecture of the Eastern Flank.

President Nicusor Dan will co-chair the proceedings alongside his Polish counterpart Karol Nawrocki, representing the co-founding state of the format.

The summit will include a plenary session and a working lunch.

At the end of the meeting, the leaders will adopt a joint declaration.

The co-chairs of the format, Romania and Poland, together with the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, will hold a press conference at the conclusion of the event. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
