After consultations at the Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday, SOS Romania leader Diana Sosoaca said she asked President Nicusor Dan to ensure that any governing programme is submitted to Parliament at least 48 hours in advance.

'We again requested a governing programme - and not one delivered just two hours before the vote, in breach of constitutional, legal and procedural rules. At minimum, it should be available 48 hours beforehand,' she said.

Sosoaca argued that the Romanian society is marked by 'divisions and power struggles', and that political leaders should remain at the negotiating table 'for a month, two or three' until they agree on a programme capable of saving the country. She also urged that decisions no longer be influenced by 'orders from Tel Aviv, Brussels or Washington'.

The SOS Romania leader said there is now 'a huge gap' between Romanians and the political class, and called on political actors to negotiate responsibly rather than bargain for positions. According to her, the number of posts sought in exchange for supporting governments has become excessive, while 'no one is interested in the people, only in positions, siphoning public money and business interests'.
