Pestisani commune will be promoted on 9 May in Paris, on Europe Day, through a stand bringing together a series of cultural and community initiatives focused on intercultural dialogue, local identity and European solidarity.

According to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Discover Pestisani Association, the event attracts more than 10,000 visitors annually, including Parisians, tourists, representatives of European institutions, cultural associations and an international public.

'On the occasion of Europe Day, the Discover Pestisani and the ARSD PARIS Associations, in partnership with Pestisani Town Hall, are taking part in the events organised on 9 May in Paris through a stand dedicated to cultural and tourism promotion. Their presence at this major European event represents an important step in the international promotion of the Pestisani commune in Gorj county, known as the birthplace of the great sculptor Constantin Brâncusi through the village of Hobita. The initiative is in line with the objectives set out in the statute of the Discover Pestisani Association, which aims to increase the visibility of Pestisani as a cultural and tourist destination at European level and to develop sustainable cultural partnerships. The stand brings together a series of cultural and community initiatives focused on intercultural dialogue, local identity and European solidarity,' the release said.

Thus, the European public has the opportunity to discover promotional materials designed specifically for this context, dedicated to the cultural heritage, authentic traditions and tourist potential of the Pestisani commune.

Materials have been developed promoting the nature of Pestisani, its major festivals as well as the gastronomy of Gorj.

'Through this initiative, Pestisani strengthens its positioning as a cultural destination of international interest and affirms its active role in promoting European values through culture and community. Local heritage, when supported by vision and partnerships, can become a powerful driver of development and international recognition,' the mayor of Pestisani commune, Cosmin Pigui said, as quoted in the press release.

Visitors to the stand will also receive a brochure produced as a travel guide for tourists, as well as an information leaflet on the route and tourist attractions included in the Regional Cultural and Tourist Route 'In the Footsteps of Brancusi.'

'The participation in Paris, in the context of Europe Day, is more than a promotional activity. Our presence at this event is aligned with the objectives of the Discover Pestisani Association, which aim to develop a consistent international presence, create cultural partnerships and strengthen the local brand by capitalizing on the Brancusi heritage. It is a reaffirmation of our cultural identity and an invitation to Europe to discover Gorj and, implicitly, the place where Brancusi's artistic vision was born,' the representatives of the Discover Pestisani Association conveyed.

The event is coordinated by the Paris City Hall, through the Maison de l'Europe and the European Commission Representation in France. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Popescu; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
