ICR Chisinau to organise event marking 35 years of Republic of Moldova's Independence on Wednesday
The Romanian Cultural Institute 'Mihai Eminescu' (ICR) in Chisinau will organise the conference called 'The Republic of Moldova at 35 Years of Independence: 'The Russian Lesson' in Public Dialogue' at the National Museum of the History of Moldova on Wednesday.
According to an ICR release sent to AGERPRES on Monday, the event marks the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Moldova's Independence and aims to create a space for public dialogue on the memory of the totalitarian regime, the recovery of historical truth and the strengthening of democratic values.
The event will bring together figures from the areas of history, literature, psychology and philology, offering an interdisciplinary perspective on identity, collective memory and cultural heritage. The conference will be moderated by Monica Babuc, Director of the Romanian Cultural Institute 'Mihai Eminescu' in Chisinau.
The novel called 'The Russian Lesson' of writer Maria Pilchin is one of the starting points for the conference, offering a literary perspective on individual and collective experiences shaped by the totalitarian regime and its consequences for memory and identity.
The conference will feature contributions from Zinaida Bolea (researcher and Doctor Habilitated in Psychology), Elena Ungureanu (philologist, researcher and Doctor Habilitated in Psychology), Ion Negrei (historian) and Maria Pilchin (writer and researcher). There will also be an artistic moment by actress Nina Lefter, who will perform a dramatic reading from Maria Pilchin's novel 'The Russian Lesson.'
Author of ten volumes of literary criticism, essays, poetry and prose, Maria Pilchin is one of the most important voices in contemporary literature in the Republic of Moldova.
The event is part of a series of events dedicated to the anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Moldova and aims to encourage dialogue between the academic and cultural communities and the general public on the importance of historical memory, the Romanian language and democratic values.
