Senate's Abrudean and US Ambassador Nirenberg discuss cooperation to strengthen Strategic Partnership
Senate President Mircea Abrudean met on Tuesday with the new US Ambassador to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, with discussions aimed at the collaboration for strengthening the Strategic Partnership between the US and Romania.
'An ambassador of dialogue and strategic cooperation. This is what I felt His Excellency Darryl Nirenberg, the United States Ambassador to Romania, is and will be during his mandate here. He is well acquainted with the values that define this region, has East European origins and worked with the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations during the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Romanian Revolution,' Abrudean wrote on his Facebook page.
The President of the Senate said that Romania is one of the important allies of the US in the region.
'Our discussions today laid the foundations for excellent cooperation to strengthen the US-RO Strategic Partnership, with our country being one of the important allies of the US in the region. At the same time, I underscored that Romania's geostrategic position is a clear premise for expanding our economic relations in several areas - energy, trade, but also in building stronger ties between our communities. I am fully confident that, for Romania, the presence of His Excellency Darryl Nirenberg as ambassador is a major gain at a key moment,' Abrudean also wrote.
Mircea Abrudean underlined that next year marks 30 years since the establishment of the Strategic Partnership between the US and Romania.
'Agreed in 1997, it has strengthened the security, democracy and economies of both countries and has gradually become a pillar of Romania's foreign policy, focused on transatlantic security, military cooperation, energy and the development of trade exchanges,' the Senate President mentioned.
