Humanitas Cismigiu Bookshop to host Mircea Cartarescu in dialogue with Marian Ochoa de Eribe ICR event
The event 'My Love Story with Literature,' featuring writer Mircea Cartarescu and Spanish translator Marian Ochoa de Eribe, will take place at the Humanitas Cismigiu Bookshop in Bucharest on Tuesday.
Starting at 19:00, the two will engage in a dialogue moderated by journalist Ana-Maria Onisei, focusing on literature beyond all borders, literature in its many aspects, with its stories and secrets, as well as its power of seduction in an increasingly challenging world, according to a press release from the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR).
The international trajectory of the well-known Romanian writer, who enjoys wide recognition including in the Spanish-speaking world, intertwines with the prestigious career of translator Marian Ochoa de Eribe, laureate of the Romanian Cultural Institute Prize, together with Eta Hrubaru, for the best translation of a book from Romanian literature, for the Spanish translation of the volume 'Antologie de poezie' by Mircea Cartarescu. The prize was awarded at the International Literature and Translation Festival in Iasi (FILIT 2022).
Access to the event is free, subject to available seats.
Organised by the Romanian Cultural Institute, through the National Book Centre, and in partnership with Humanitas Publishing House, the dialogue is part of a series of events marking two decades of promoting Romanian literature abroad through the Translation and Publication Support (TPS) programme, established by the Romanian Cultural Institute in 2006, which has reached a portfolio of more than 1,000 titles, including volumes by Mircea Cartarescu.
