Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea won the Transylvania Open tournament (WTA 250), with total prize worth 283,347 USD, hosted at BTarena in Cluj-Napoca, after defeating Britain's Emma Raducanu 6-0, 6-2 in Saturday's final.

Cirstea (aged 35, WTA's 36th), the third seed, is the first Romanian player to claim the title in Cluj-Napoca.

Sorana Cirstea secured the victory in just 63 minutes against main seed Emma Raducanu (aged 23, WTA's 30th), who had come through a nearly three-hour semifinal.

Cirstea took revenge over the Romanian-born player after Raducanu won their only previous meeting, in the third round at Wimbledon in 2021, 6-3, 7-5.

Sorana Cirstea adds her fourth WTA title to her career record in her final year on the circuit, following victories in Tashkent (2008), Istanbul (2021) and Cleveland (2025). She has also finished runner-up on four occasions, in Budapest (2007), Toronto (2013), Tashkent (2019) and Strasbourg (2021).

Raducanu remains with a single career title, a Grand Slam at the US Open (2021), this being her second final.

On her way to the trophy, Cirstea did not drop a set, defeating Uzbekistan's Kamlila Rakhimova 6-4, 6-4 in the first round, Slovenia's Tamara Zidansek 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 16, Austria's Anastasia Potapova, the reigning champion, 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals, Ukraine's Daria Snihur 6-0, 6-3 in the semifinals, and finally defeating Raducanu 6-0, 6-2 in the final.

Cirstea was awarded a cheque worth 37,390 USD and 250 WTA points, while Raducanu received 22,125 USD and 163 WTA points.

The doubles title was claimed by the pair made up of Kamlila Rakhimova (Uzbekistan) and Sara Sorribes Tormo (Spain), who defeated the Chinese duo Xinyu Wang and Saisai Zheng 7-6 (9/7), 6-3 in the final.

Rakhimova and Sorribes Tormo earned 13,600 USD and 250 WTA doubles points, while Wang and Zheng received 7,650 USD and 163 WTA doubles points. AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Mihai Tenea; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
