The SoNoRo International Chamber Music Festival celebrates 20 years of excellence in Madrid at the 'San Fernando' Royal Academy of Fine Arts on November 18 and in Seville at the General Archives of the Indies on November 19.

The concerts are part of this year's extensive international tour, which has included thirteen concerts in eight countries, according to a release sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday.

At the concerts in Madrid and Seville, violinist Alexandra Conunova, violist Razvan Popovici, cellist Andrei Ionita and pianist Diana Ketler will perform. The programme will feature works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gabriel Fauré, George Enescu and Richard Strauss.

The concert in Madrid is part of the multi-year Romania in music programme and is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute in Madrid, in partnership with the 'San Fernando' Royal Academy of Fine Arts, under the aegis of the Embassy of Romania in the Kingdom of Spain. The concert in Seville is part of public diplomacy events dedicated to Romania's National Day and is organized by the Romanian Consulate General in Seville, in collaboration with the General Archives of the Indies and the City Hall of Seville.

Admission to the concerts is free of charge, based on available seating.

Founded in 2006, the SoNoRo Festival was established by violist Razvan Popovici and pianist Diana Ketler, being considered one of the most refined chamber music festivals in Eastern Europe.

With the mission of bringing chamber music to the forefront of Romanian cultural life, the festival has integrated the Romanian music scene into a network of prestigious European festivals. In addition to long-standing partnerships with festivals in Italy, Latvia, Germany, England, Israel, and Japan, SoNoRo has performed in some of the world's most renowned concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, Bozar in Brussels, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Kennedy Center in Washington and the YMCA in Jerusalem.

Expanding the festival internationally resulted in the creation of SoNoRo On Tour, with 13 years of tours across 3 continents and 15 countries (including France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Israel and Japan).

The SoNoRo On Tour 2025 journey began with a Preludio at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires (Argentina), at the end of last year and continued with an opening concert at the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest (Romania), as well as performances in remarkable concert venues in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Spain. The concert that will close the tour is scheduled to take place in the US, at Carnegie Hall, on December 4.

The SoNoRo Festival was as an inspirational musical event in Romania and has developed over the years into a uniquely successful cultural platform that includes the SoNoRo Interferences scholarship program (19 years in running), SoNoRo Conac (13 years of chamber music in national heritage architectural venues in Romania), SoNoRo Arezzo (10 years), SoNoRo Musikland (7 years; a Festival dedicated to the cultural heritage of the Transylvanian Saxons), SoNoRo Cayman Islands Week (2 years) and the new projects SoNoRo Kids, New Year's Concert and SoNoRo Strings Orchestra (launched in 2024).
