Orsova Shipyard concludes external contract, worth 4.28 million euros, for building river ship
Orsova Shipyard has concluded an external contract worth 4.28 million euros for the construction of a river ship, the buyer's name being protected by the confidentiality clause, according to a report submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) on Friday.
According to the cited source, the commercial contract, with intra-community delivery, was concluded on October 10, and the ship's delivery date is August 2026.
As to the payment terms and conditions, the report submitted to the BVB specifies that an advance payment of the contract value will be paid, based on a bank guarantee letter for the refund of the advance, and the remaining payment after the ship arrives at the place of delivery.
Orsova Shipyard was founded in 1890, as a small workshop for repairing ships that participated in the construction of the navigable canal at the Iron Gates. Although it had a constant development over time, it experienced a spectacular evolution only after 1991 when the form of organization and name changed, establishing the joint-stock company Orsova Shipyard.
Starting with 1992, when the first ships for export were built, due to the increase in quality and seriousness that it demonstrated, the company has gained the trust of external partners from year to year, currently building an average of approx. 8-10 river/sea ship hulls/year, for the Western European market.
A turning point was 1998, when, after listing on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, following the sale of the stake held by the former FPS, the company became 100% private.
The company's headquarters are in Orsova, and since 2008 the company has a branch office in the port of Constanta - Agigea.
Currently, the main activity at the Orsova headquarters is the construction and repair of ships and floating structures, and the activity at the branch office is mainly oriented towards the rental of technical vessels (especially barges for hydrotechnical installations).
