PM Bolojan congratulates Moldova's new PM Tofan on being voted in office
Romania's interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan on Tuesday sent a congratulatory message to Vasile Tofan, the new prime minister of Moldova, assuring him of full support and cooperation from the Romanian government.
'I want to congratulate and wish good luck to the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Vasile Tofan, and assure him of all the support and cooperation from the Romanian government. It is important to continue to advance with the projects we have on the bilateral agenda, from those of interconnection in transport and energy, to those in the areas of culture and education,' Ilie Bolojan wrote in a social media post.
He added that Romania remains Moldova's most active and devoted supporter in the EU accession process.
'We are glad and welcome Chisinau's progress with the EU accession process and, as I previously said, Romania remains the most active and devoted supporter,' Bolojan said.
The government led by Vasile Tofan received on Tuesday evening the vote of confidence of Moldova's Parliament, with the help of the votes of a majority of 53 lawmakers from the presidential party Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), while the opposition as a whole abstained from voting.
Vasile Tofan, a 44-year-old businessman, had been appointed prime minister by pro-European President Maia Sandu after the resignation on July 3 of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, who reasoned that he could no longer 'exercise his mandate in accordance with his principles and convictions'.
