Image

The public is invited to participate in the events that will mark the European Mobility Week and the Bucharest Days, to be held at the end of this week by the Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport Bucharest - Ilfov (TPBI) together with its partners.

The European Mobility Week 2025 runs from September 16 to Septemeber 22.

' The Presidential Train will be exhibited at the North Railway Station and there will be races to the East Railway Station and the West Railway Station. On Gheorghe Duca Boulevard there vintage trams will run, and also from there, the old trams from the special lines 26 and 54 will run to see the past and the present side by side, with the Imperio trams on line 1. Children are expected at workshops in Cismigiu Park, and at Baneasa Airport the ROMBAC plane will be exhibited, with the possibility of a bus tour of the runway. We will also have special bus lines, which will depart from King Michael I Park to the North Railway Station, Baneasa Airport and various points of interest in Ilfov County. At the same time, several events will be organised to mark 566 years of offcial records of the city of Bucharest,' TPBI Director General Vladimir Adrian Ghitulescu told the 'Mobility for Everyone: Bucharest Mobility Summit' conference.

The European Mobility Week 2025 started on Tuesday, September 16, with the conference 'Mobility for Everyone: Bucharest Mobility Summit', organised at Le Chateau by the Romanian Association for Smart City (ARSC) in collaboration with the Bucharest-Ilfov Intercommunity Development Association for Public Transport (TPBI) and the Bucharest Transport Company - STB SA.

The central theme of the event was public transport accessible to all categories of travellers, in line with this year's European motto - Mobility for Everyone.

Authorities highlighted the progress made in terms of accessibility of public transport. Examples include the purchase of vehicles equipped with special equipment for people with disabilities, but also the pilot project launched by the Bucharest Transport Company - STB SA on lines 90 and 104.

Under this project, the vehicles are equipped with devices that work together with a mobile application. Thus, visually impaired people are guided to the station, receive real-time information about the arrival of the vehicle and get audible assistance when getting on and off.

'Disability does not mean helplessness, but a difference in functioning that can be reduced or even eliminated through accessibility. If all the projects are aimed at the inclusion of everyone, we will be able to really enjoy our space,' said Marius Stratulat, founder of the MSN Life Services clinic chain and the Help to Heart association.

According to TPBI, the conference brought together representatives of the central and local administration, transport companies and organizations involved in the field of urban mobility. AGERPRES (RO - editing by: Nicoleta Banciulea; EN - writing by: Corneliu-Aurelian Colceriu)
