Alba Carolina Citadel: 10,000-plus guests to join world record attempt for longest recyclable material table

Image

Over 10,000 people will attempt a world record on Saturday for the longest table built from recyclable materials, putting together a 2.7-kilometre long table around the Alba Carolina Citadel in Alba Iulia.

Titled 'The Table that Unites', this would be the third Guinness World Record held by Alba Iulia, after the one set in 2009 with the 'largest hug', and the one in 2018, with the largest human image of a country.

'Alba Iulia is preparing to set the record for the world's longest table made of recyclable materials. The initiative takes place as part of a historic event, 'The Table That Unites', organized by Bloom The World in the Alba Carolina Citadel on September 13, starting at 4:00 p.m. The initiators will build around the citadel a 2.7-km long table made of recyclable materials, which has a chance of entering the Guinness World Records. Over 10,000 guests from all over the country and another 1,000 people involved in the organization will participate in the event which, in addition to the community table, will feature live concerts, performances by folklore ensembles and activities for children,' a release informs.

Over 40 companies were signed up for the project, with donations of everything necessary from food and drinks to benches, plates, cutlery, flowers, detergents and napkins.

Made up of nearly 1,500 europallets and 2,700 doka panels, the huge table surrounding the fortification will be decorated with 10,000 flower stems and will hold 10,000 recycled ceramic plates specially created for the event.

Five tons of food will be prepared for the free community meal, using 5,000 liters of water.

'The Table That Unites' event is part of a series of such original community meals organized by Bloom The World in spectacular places in Romania, such as the Retezat Mountains or the Meziad Cave.

'We want to put Alba Iulia on the world map and make it better known. There are many places worth discovering here. (...) Being able to bring together 10,000 people and a team of over 1,000 supporters, to create something beautiful and to pass on joy, clearly shows that this must continue, because such an event produces a state of well-being and it would be a shame not to carry on,' declared the project's initiator and Bloom The World general director Alexa Vilcan.

'The Table That Unites' event is organized by Bloom The World, Magic Maker Communication, 11even Association, AVA Smart Events, Vânzator de idei, and is sponsored by the Alba Iulia City Hall. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Marinela Brumar; EN - writing by: Simona Klodnischi)
