President Dan to begin informal consultations with parties; pro-Western Gov't at end of process

Imagine din galeria Agerpres

President Nicusor Dan said on Tuesday he will begin informal consultations with the political parties to form a new Government, after the motion of censure against the Bolojan cabinet passed Parliament, and assured that a pro-Western Government will be in place at the end of the talks.

He said he rules out the scenario of early elections and underscored that a new Government will be appointed 'within a reasonable timeframe.'

'I will begin with informal consultations and, when options crystallize, we will hold formal consultations. I understand Romanians' expectations regarding how the state functions, and especially corruption. I understand Romanians' expectations related to everyday life and will, of course, take them into account in the talks I will have with parties to form a new Government. We will have a new Government within a reasonable timeframe. I therefore rule out the scenario of early elections and underscore that, at the end of these procedures, we will have a pro-Western Government. We will get through this calmly,' the head of state said in a press statement at the Cotroceni Palace. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Oana Ghita; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
