Sublocotenent Ion Ghiculescu minehunter departs for new MCM BLACK SEA TG exercise
Sandown-class (M270) minehunter Sublocotenent Ion Ghiculescu departed on Tuesday from the Constanta military port to participate in the fifth mission of the Black Sea Mine Countermeasure Task Group, alongside two ships of the Bulgarian Naval Forces and one vessel of the Turkish Navy.
The Navy General Staff informs that minehunter Sublocotenent Ion Ghiculescu, with a team of explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) divers on board, departed from the Constanta military port on June 10, being set to participate until the end of June in the fifth activation of the Mine Counter-Measures Black Sea Task Group (MCM BLACK SEA TG).
'Between June 14 - 22, the four ships will participate in the multinational exercise 'Eurasian Partnership MCM DIVE 25' organized by the Romanian Navy, which will take place in Black Sea sectors and in the military port of Constanta. The MCM BLACK SEA operation consists of search and rescue actions at sea intended to maintain the safety of maritime traffic in the covered area through surveillance, reconnaissance and neutralization of navigational hazards,' the release sent by the Navy General Staff states.
During the mission, the ships will stop over to restore their combat capability in the ports of Burgas (Bulgaria), Constantt (Romania) and Istanbul (Turkey).
