Prime minister-designate Eugen Tomac said on Wednesday that he was ready to make the compromises needed to ensure stability and predictability for Romania, adding that he was willing to discuss alternative ministerial nominees with political parties if concerns were raised over the current proposals.

'I returned today for another very constructive discussion with the national minorities group and I fully understand their expectations. I am pleased that Romanian deputies and senators are becoming increasingly aware of the seriousness of the situation facing the country. I also presented the list of ministers I intend to nominate and, of course, I will continue - today, tomorrow and for as long as necessary - to hold talks with politicians and parliamentary party leaders, because I want to help break the deadlock in this tense and extremely difficult situation facing the country. I am prepared to find a compromise - I stress, a necessary compromise - in order to provide Romania with stability, predictability and a clear outlook for the immediate future,' Tomac said after meeting lawmakers representing national minorities.

He said he wanted the government to be made up of specialists and experienced people capable of managing ministries during an extremely difficult period marked by numerous urgent challenges.

'However, where there are concerns or reservations, I am, of course, willing to discuss them with the parties and we can propose other candidates acceptable to everyone. I speak with political leaders every day and, through this message, I want to assure them all of my good faith and my willingness to discuss every proposed member of the future government, so that there can be no misunderstanding of our intentions,' Tomac added.

The prime minister-designate said he remained in contact with all political parties and was prepared to discuss every aspect of the negotiations, arguing that overcoming the obstacles that have so far prevented the political class from reaching a majority solution was a 'shared' responsibility.

'In order to eliminate any grounds for controversy, I am willing to discuss each proposed member of the future government with the political parties, because I want us to move beyond this stage and provide Romania with a fully empowered government capable of addressing the country's urgent challenges,' Tomac said.
