ANSVSA: A transport with over 40,000 Romanian animals will leave for Algeria on Friday

A new transport with over 40,000 Romanian animals - cattle and sheep - will depart on Friday for Anaba (Algeria) from the port of Constanta, the National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) announced in a post on Facebook.

'Today, May 30, 2025, a new significant transport of sheep and cattle sets off for Algeria, consolidating the economic and sanitary-veterinary partnership of trust between Romania and the Algerian state. 40,600 sheep and 1,460 bulls were embarked, all transported under rigorous safety conditions on board a specially authorized ship. The sanitary-veterinary checks and certification of the export batch were carried out by DSVSA Constanta, and during the transport, the health of the animals is permanently monitored by an official Romanian veterinarian and a veterinarian from Algeria,' the Authority specifies.

The constant involvement of ANSVSA in this process guaranteed not only compliance with the highest animal welfare standards, but also the continuity of a successful commercial collaboration.

'Following the first export in 2024 and the exceptional feedback regarding the quality of Romanian sheep meat, Algeria has decided that the entire requirement for 2025, including for the celebration of Eid el-Adha, will be covered exclusively from Romania,' ANSVSA also wrote on the social media page.

In this context, a large-scale operation is underway aimed at exporting 400,000 sheep, based on the bilateral agreement concluded between the two countries.

ANSVSA continues its mission to support sanitary-veterinary standards and to actively contribute to the promotion of Romanian products on international markets.AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Mariana Nica EN - writing by: Catalin Cristian Trandafir)
