Senate's Abrudean: I experienced moments of deep spirituality in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican

Interim President of the Senate Mircea Abrudean attended the Solemn Liturgy on Sunday marking the inauguration of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, highlighting that Romania's presence at the event reflects its respect and openness to interfaith dialogue, as well as the special relationship between Romania and the Holy See.
'I had the honour of representing Romania, as Interim President of the Senate, today, May 18, at the Solemn Liturgy marking the inauguration of the pontificate of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. I experienced moments of deep spirituality in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican. I conveyed to His Holiness that he has a trusted partner in Romania, one that shares the values of the pontificate he is now beginning: peace, unity, human dignity. I took the opportunity to extend an invitation for him to visit our country, as we recalled the historic 2019 visit of his predecessor, Pope Francis. Romania's presence at this solemn ceremony reflects both our respect and openness to interfaith dialogue, and the special relationship we have with the Holy See,' Abrudean wrote on Facebook.
Romania's Ambassador to the Holy See, George Bologan, accompanied Mircea Abrudean to the Vatican.
'We wish His Holiness a bright and fruitful pontificate,' Mircea Abrudean also said. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Livia Popescu; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
