Longest summer toboggan track in Romania to be opened in Sinaia, on August 1

The longest summer toboggan track in Romania will be opened in Sinaia, most likely on August 1, on an investment of 12 million lei, announced Sinaia Urban Transport company director general Maria Floricica.
'Winter tourism was good for Sinaia this season. It's true that, from year to year, the snow seems to melt faster, there seems to be less snowfall, temperatures are posing problems, and we have big temperature differences and wind. Summer leisure is not a story, and our priority at the moment is the summer toboggan. This is a project for which we have already signed the contract: a toboggan-type installation on a single rail, with 65 bobsled vehicles, which will start from the 1400-metre level and reach the 1000-metre level, at the departure station of the Sinaia gondola. It's a 12 million lei project, an investment from our own funds and a bank loan. We hope to open it on August 1, if there are no delays. We will have the longest toboggan of this type in Romania, over two kilometres in length,' said the director general of Sinaia Urban Transport company, which manages the ski area in the resort.
She mentioned that since the start of the season, from November 28, 2024, to March 25, 2025, approximately 25,000 tickets were sold for the Sinaia gondola, with over two million accesses recorded through the gate.
According to the quoted source, Sinaia is a destination visited year-round, especially in winter, but tourists are also present in summer, for hiking, cycling or mountain biking.
Maria Floricica was present at a promotion event for specialists dedicated to mountain resorts titled 'Rediscover the Prahova Valley.'
The event was organised by the National Association of Travel Agencies in Romania (ANAT), in partnership with the Agency for Tourism Development and Promotion (APDT) - Prahova branch, and the Poiana Brasov Tourism Employers' Organisation.
The area in focus covers the main localities in the Prahova Valley and Brasov area, including Sinaia, Busteni, Predeal, Brasov, Poiana Brasov, Bran, Moieciu, Fundata, Azuga, Campina and Poiana Campina. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Mariana Nica; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
