140 teams from 16 countries at Robotics Championship in Oradea this Friday and Saturday
Oradea will become the international capital of robotics and technology on Friday and Saturday with the start of a new edition of the Robotics Championship, one of the most spectacular robotics events in Europe.
According to a Visit Oradea release, the public will have free access and will be able to discover more than 400 robots competing at the Antonio Alexe Arena, alongside spectacular technology demonstrations and a genuine show of the future, in an event dedicated to the entire family.
More than 700 participants and around 140 teams from Romania, the Philippines, Egypt, Poland, Austria, China, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, Algeria, Greece, Lithuania, Morocco, Ukraine, Lebanon and Georgia are taking part in the 14th edition of the competition.
Visitors will have the opportunity to watch some of the most spectacular robotics contests ever organised in Romania, including: Turbo events featuring high-speed robots, intense battles between humanoid robots and high-power robots, mega sumo and robot combat, autonomous courses and AI contests, as well as technical demonstrations and technologies developed by young innovators.
One of the main attractions of this year's edition will be the Robot Football contest, where humanoid robots will play football in a competitive format. Thus, the Robotics Championship becomes the first competition in Romania to organise such a spectacle for the public and one of the few competitions in Europe to do so.
In total, the event includes 20 competitive contests, each offering different experiences, ranging from speed and artificial intelligence to strength, autonomy and strategy. Alongside the competitions, the public will also be able to take part in interactive workshops and educational activities, exhibition areas and technology demonstrations, meetings with inventors, developers and international teams, activities for children and families, as well as hands-on robotics and programming experiences.
The Robotics Championship is an educational and technology event dedicated both to robotics enthusiasts and to families, pupils, students and everyone wishing to discover the technology of the future in an interactive and spectacular way.
The programme for visitors runs on Friday, 8 May, between 10:00 and 17:00, and on Saturday, 9 May, from 10:00 to 21:00.
The event is organised by the Robotics Championship volunteer community, with Visit Oradea as co-organiser and University of Oradea as honorary organiser, alongside partners such as the Oradea Engineering Students Association (ASIO) and the Bihor Science and Technology Park.
This year's edition is supported by partners and sponsors such as Golde Oradea, Celestica, Plastor, Octaser, Agros and Plexus, which contribute to the development and growth of the event. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Eugenia Pasca; EN - writing by: Rodica State)
