Romanian Elizabeta Samara elected to ITTF Athletes' Commission
Romanian player Elizabeta Samara has been elected to the Athletes' Commission of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), which on Thursday announced on its website the results of the electoral phase held on May 4.
Samara received the highest number of votes, 278, tied with England's Paul Drinkhall.
The eight athletes elected to the ITTF Athletes' Commission, with a four-year mandate and in line with the representation principles set out in Article 7.2 of the Election Procedure - ensuring continental and gender balance across Africa, the Americas, Asia and Europe - are: Sharath Kamal Achanta (India) - 258 votes, Charlotte Carey (Wales) - 261 votes, Celia Baah Danso (Ghana) - 226 votes, Paul Drinkhall (England) - 278 votes, Sami Kherouf (Algeria) - 215 votes, Liu Shiwen (China) - 258 votes, Alberto Mino (Ecuador) - 264 votes, and Elizabeta Samara (Romania) - 278 votes.
The composition of the Commission is completed by two representatives of Para Table Tennis athletes.
Since only two candidates expressed interest in the two available positions, no voting session was required. The Executive Committee recommended their acceptance without elections, and the Electoral Commission agreed. The two candidates are Jack Hunter-Spivey (England) and Tahl Leibovitz (USA).
