New day in extreme heat, with maximum temperatures to reach over 40 degrees Celsius
Romania continues under Code Red and Code Orange warnings for scorching heat on Tuesday, when again maximum temperatures will reach over 40 degrees Celsius, according to the National Weather Administration (ANM).
Thus, the Code Red warning will be in place in 35 counties in Banat, Crisana, Maramures, Transylvania, Moldavia, Oltenia and in the western half of Muntenia region, where extreme temperatures will be recorded, comparable with the absolute records registered in June, thermal discomfort will be highly accentuated and the humidity-temperature index will exceed the 80 unit critical threshold.

Maximum temperatures will range between 35 and 41 degrees, with the highest values in Banat and Crisana regions. Nights will be tropical, with minimum temperatures between 17 and 25 degrees.
Moreover, a Code Orange for scorching heat will be valid in Dobruja and the eastern half of Muntenia. In these areas, the heatwave will become stronger, there will be scorching heat and sharp thermal discomfort, while the humidity-temperatures index will be in excess of the 80 unit critical threshold. Maximum temperatures will range between 32 degrees Celsius in the Danube Delta and up to 38 degrees in the rest of the areas Nights will be tropical-like, with minimums between 20 and 24 degrees.
