Bucharest, Jan 20 /Agerpres/ - The Romanian ambassador to Italy, Gabriela Dancau, on Saturday evening decorated, on behalf of the president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, Valentina Negritescu, professor, and Violeta Popescu, historian, for their contribution to creating genuine cultural bridges between Romania and Italy.
Valentina Negritescu, lecturer of Romanian at the University of Milan, was awarded the Order of Merit for Education in rank of Knight. Author of fundamental works for learning Romanian and Italian, she opened new horizons for generations of students and researchers, laying the foundations for a better cultural understanding between the two nations.
Through her dictionaries, textbooks and published works, she offered essential tools for knowing the Romanian language and culture, contributing to preserving and promoting the Romanian cultural identity in Italy. Her constant involvement in maintaining the Romanian language department at the University of Milan underlines her deep commitment to education and cultural heritage, Gabriela Dancau shows in a post on her Facebook page.
Historian Violeta Popescu, a dedicated promoter of Romanian cultural and historical heritage, was honoured with the Order of 'Cultural Merit' in rank of Knight. Through her tireless activity, she distinguished herself as a true promoter of Romanian culture in Italy, dedicating herself to highlighting Romanian cultural heritage and the historical ties between the two nations.
