Tennis: Romanian junior teams win their groups in Cupa Davis, Billie King Cup

The Romanian teams won the groups of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup junior tennis competitions, which takes place in Antalya, after securing their qualification for the quarterfinals.
In the Davis Cup, Romania finished in the first place in Group C and will play in the quarterfinals against France.
On Wednesday, the Romanian players won against Japan, 2-1, in the last match. Alejandro Mateo Berge Nourescu defeating Kawanishi Hyu, 6-4, 6-2, and Yannick Theodor Alexandrescu defeating Ryo Tabata, 7-6 (7/3), 5-7, 6-1. In the doubles event, Alejandro Mateo Berge Nourescu and Cezar Stefan Bentzel got defeated by Kawanishi Hyu and Ren Matsumura, 6-2, 6-1.
Romania took the first place, with 3 wins (7-2), followed by Japan, with 2 wins and 1 loss (6-3), Mexico, 1 win and 2 losses (2-6), Turkey, 3 losses (3-6).
France ranked second in Group B, after 3-0 against Hong Kong, 3-0 against South Africa and 1-2 against Kazakhstan.
Romania participates for the first time in the final tournament of the Davis Cup for juniors.
In the women's event, in the Billie Jean King Cup, Romania will meet Australia in the quarterfinals after winning Group C.
On Wednesday, the Romanian players won against Japan, 2-1, thanks to the points brought by Giulia Safina Popa and Maia Ilinca Burcescu. Giulia Popa defeated Lisa Kamigata, 6-4, 6-4, Maia Burcescu won her match against Wakana Sonobe, 6-3, 6-3, while in doubles event, Lisa Kamigata and Kanon Sawashiro defeated by 6-1, 6-4 the pair of Ioana Stefania Boian/Giulia Popa.
Romania finished in the first place in its group, with 3 wins (7-2), followed by Japan, 2 wins and 1 loss (5-4), South Korea, 1 win and 2 losses (3-5), and Italy, 3 losses (2-6).
Australia finished in the second place in Group C, after scoring 2-1 against Canada, 2-1 wins against Peru and 0-3 against the Czech Republic.
The top two finishers in each group qualified for the quarterfinals.
