Kayak-canoe: Catalin Chirila, bronze medalist in 500-meter single canoe event during European Championships

Romanian athlete Catalin Chirila won the bronze medal on Sunday in the 500-meter single canoe event at the European Kayak-Canoe Championships in Racice (Czech Republic).
Chirila was clocked with a time of 1 min 49 sec 313/1000.
Czech Martin Fuksa won his tenth continental title in this event, with a time of 1 min 47 sec 733/1000, the bronze medal going to Moldovan Serghei Tarnovschi, in 1 min 49 sec 280/1000.
In the men's 500-meter double canoe, Romanians Ilie Sprincean/Oleg Nuta ranked fourth, with a time of 1 min 37 sec 385/1000. The gold medals were won by Italians Gabriele Casadei/Carlo Tacchini, in 1 min 36 sec 058/1000, silver went to Spaniards Daniel Grijalba/Adrian Sieiro, in 1 min 36 sec 148/1000, and Hungarians Kristof Kollar/Istvan Juhasz won bronze, in 1 min 36 sec 978/1000.
Romania ended the competition with two medals, one gold in the 1,000-meter canoe single and another bronze in the 500-meter canoe single, both won by Catalin Chirila.
