The coalition will ensure decision-making transparency and unified communication to gain the trust of citizens and international partners in the act of governance, and meritocracy and professionalism will be promoted in the administration, beyond political affiliation, according to the political agreement signed on Monday morning among the Social Democratic Party (PSD), the National Liberal Party (PNL), the Save Romania Union (USR), the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) and the Parliamentary Group of National Minorities in the Chamber of Deputies.

'The signatory political parties, aware of the responsibility they bear during a difficult period for Romania, agree on the formation of a pro-Western governing coalition for the period 2025-2028, hereinafter referred to as the coalition. In the face of economic, geopolitical and social challenges, this partnership aims to implement fundamental structural reforms, ensure stable and effective governance, foster Romania's development, and consolidate democracy. The measures promoted by the Coalition aim to restore budgetary balance, prioritise and continue investments, and ensure a predictable climate for the business environment, while maintaining social cohesion and solidarity,' the document reads.

The future governing coalition will operate based on the following principles, outlined in the political agreement:

*The activity of the Coalition is based on good cooperation, transparency, and responsibility;
* The Coalition will support a government programme based on clear and collectively agreed priorities;
* Romania's pro-European and Euro-Atlantic trajectory is a fundamental component of the programmes and policies promoted by the Coalition and its representatives;
*The political parties forming the Coalition commit to pursuing a moderate and balanced political approach, aligning with common objectives despite ideological differences;
* The Coalition will ensure decision-making transparency and unified communication to gain the trust of citizens and international partners in the act of governance;
*Meritocracy and professionalism will be promoted in the public administration, beyond political affiliation;
*Every major political decision will be adopted by political consensus, with the direct involvement of all Coalition parties and the Prime Minister. AGERPRES (RO - writing by: Andreea Rotaru; EN - writing by: Adina Panaitescu)
