PM Ciolacu: The National Anthem 'Awaken Thee, Romanian!' mobilised Romanians at the crossroads of history
The National Anthem "Desteapta-te romane!" [Awaken Thee, Romanian!] mobilised Romanians at the crossroads of history and remains an important landmark of their identity, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday, July 29, Romanian National Anthem Day.
"Born in the period of patriotic effervescence of the 1848 Revolution, 'Awaken Thee, Romanian!' remains an important landmark of our identity. The National anthem mobilised Romanians at the crossroads of history. Today, on our road to freedom and democracy that we have chosen, we live with emotion every moment when Andrei Muresanu's notes sound like recognition of Romanian performances," Ciolacu said in a social media post.
He added that he hopes that Romanians will listen as many times as possible to the anthem at the Olympic Games in Paris and wished 'Happy National Anthem Day!' to Romania and all Romanians.
