CCIB signs Cooperation Agreement with China Council for Promotion of International Trade
The Bucharest Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIB) has signed a cooperation agreement with the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT- Chongqing), with a view to strengthening Romanian-Chinese economic relations and developing new opportunities for collaboration between companies from the two countries.
The document was initialed during a meeting held at the CCIB Palace, where Iuliu Stocklosa, president of the Bucharest Chamber, received the visit of the Chongqing delegation, led by Zhang Haiqing, vice president of CCPIT.
'We consider it essential to maintain an open dialogue between our business communities. That is why internationalization is a priority for our Chamber, and the extensive network of partners and CCIB representative offices in Europe, North America and Asia reflect our commitment to facilitating new opportunities for Romanian companies. In the future, we intend to consolidate our presence in China by establishing a CCIB representative office,' said Stocklosa, quoted in a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.
For his part, the CCPIT vice president presented the economic potential of the city of Chongqing, one of the most important economic centers of China, and also highlighted the advantages of railway connectivity between China and Europe.
'The Chongqing - Xinjiang - Europe railway route, which crosses Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Poland and reaches Duisburg, Germany, is the complex system that facilitates trade exchanges. We want to extend this transport system to Romania,' said Haiqing.
According to CCIB, the executive vice mayor of the People's Government of Zhongxian-Chongqing District, Wang Jianhua, presented three directions with potential for cooperation between Romania and the Chinese region: economic and trade cooperation, with an emphasis on sustainable agriculture; investments in industrial sectors, especially in the automotive industry; tourism and culture.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between CCIB and CCPIT took place in the presence of representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Romania, in the context of a dialogue focused on identifying new opportunities for collaboration between the business environments of the two states.
'In the context of strengthening trade relations between Romania and China, another important milestone is Romania's participation in the China International Import Expo (CIIE), organized in Shanghai, between November 5-10, 2026, where it will be represented by a national pavilion. The event is an opportunity to promote Romanian products and services on the Chinese market, as well as to develop direct contacts between Romanian companies and potential partners in China. Representatives of the participating companies had the opportunity to interact during a networking session, exchange experience and know-how and explore possible directions of collaboration in areas such as industry, the agrifood sector, sustainability and trade,' the press release states.
The Chinese delegation brought together in Bucharest representatives of CCPIT-Chongqing, the local administration of Zhongxian, as well as companies operating in fields such as electro-mechanics, agriculture, the food industry and trade.
