RoboAS team of Andrei Saguna National College awarded at FIRST Tech Challenge Istanbul

The 12 members of the RoboAS robotics team from the Andrei Saguna Collegiate High School of Brasov has won the third place and the Design Award 2 at the international competition FIRST Tech Challenge Premier Event Istanbul 2026.

After returning to the country, the young people were received at the Brasov City Hall by Mayor George Scripcaru and Deputy Mayor Dan Ghita, to whom they presented their performances and experience gained during the contest.

The competition in Istanbul brought together 76 teams from 16 countries, with Romania being represented by 14 teams.

The RoboAS team competed in the Rumel division, making it to the podium and winning one of the most appreciated distinctions dedicated to robot design.



The Design Award 2 rewards the teams that demonstrate excellence in the design and manufacture of a robot, with the quality of the engineering solutions, the mechanical design and the integration of the components in a highly performing system being what is prized the highest.

The Brasov team shared the podium with another team from Romania - that of the students from the Grigore Moisil National Collegiate High School, Zenith, who won the Inspire Award - the second place at the competition in Istanbul.
