IMM Romania (National Council of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Romania) President Florin Jianu has been elected vice-president of the Enterprise Policy Committee of SMEunited, the representative organisation for SMEs at European level, after also being elected vice-president of SMEunited in December 2025.

According to a release sent to AGERPRES on Thursday, the committee's priority is to promote essential policy files for small and medium-sized enterprises, from implementing and strengthening the 'Think Small First' principle to major initiatives such as Omnibus IV and tackling late payments.

'My priority is for Europe to become even more effective for SMEs. The Single Market regime is an important step forward, but we must continue this effort to turn the Single Market into a tool that truly works for small and medium-sized enterprises. Reducing bureaucracy, improving legislation and creating a fairer business environment are essential conditions for the economic development of the entire European Union,' Florin Jianu said, as quoted in the release.

IMM Romania is the only organisation in Central and Eastern Europe to hold such a position, representing recognition of its efforts to promote the interests of entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises at both national and European level.

SMEunited represents the interests of SMEs at European level. With 65 member organisations from 30 countries, SMEunited represents national craft and SME confederations, European SME organisations and associate members on behalf of Europe's 26 million SMEs, employing nearly 95 million people.

IMM Romania was established in 1992 and is a member of the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue (CNTDS), coordinated by the Prime Minister of Romania, the Economic and Social Council, the consultative body of the Romanian Parliament and Government, as well as the Social Dialogue Commissions at both central and territorial level.
