DefMin Miruta leading Romania's delegation to Munich Security Conference
National Defence Minister Radu Miruta will lead Romania's delegation to the Munich Security Conference, where topics concerning transatlantic security and the strengthening of European defence cooperation will be discussed, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) announced on Friday.
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Radu Miruta will participate, 13 to 15 February, in the Munich Security Conference (MSC), together with Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu and Director General of the Cyber Security Directorate Dan Cimpean.
'The activities of the Munich Security Conference are guided by five programme areas - Defence, Global Order, Human Security, Sustainability and Technology - which reflect the complexity of current security challenges and the need for coordinated responses at international level. The agenda of this year's edition includes topical issues concerning transatlantic security, the strengthening of European defence cooperation, innovation and new technologies with an impact on the military area, as well as the adaptation of international cooperation instruments to the new strategic realities,' the press release reads.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Minister of National Defence will participate in plenary sessions and thematic meetings dedicated to cooperation within NATO and the European Union, as well as in bilateral meetings with counterparts and officials from allied and partner states to discuss issues of common interest concerning regional security, strengthening the deterrence and defence posture on NATO's Eastern Flank and continuing support for partners affected by the consequences of the war in Ukraine, the quoted source mentions.
